Renewable Energy workshop is huge sucess

Burrough Court hosted an event with Farming Futures and Rural Energy educating local land managers and farmers on the benefits and ways of investing in renewable energy technology.

The workshop included informative presentations from farm energy experts in wind, biomass and solar PV technologies.  Delegates saw the technologies first hand visiting the biomass boiler here at Burrough Court and a local wind turbine. Biomass Boiler at Burrough CourtHaving invested and experiences installing a biomass boiler here, director Fred Wilson gave an insights on the pitfall and successes of on-farm renewable energy generation.

The feedback from the day was excellent;

"The event was one of the most informative sessions that I have ever attended on any subject. The people doing the talking knew what they were talking about, the examples were tangible and easy to relate to and the organisation and administration of the day could not have been more engaging or encouraging. Superb Venue"

A bit of Burrough Court history auctioned for £2,150!!

A settee once here at Burrough Court, though to be where Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson were seated on the weekend they met has sold for £2,150 in Northamptonshire.

Settee sold at auction

It is rumored that the pair spent all weekend chatting on a "luxurious" three-seater pink velvet settee.

Auctioneer Jonathan Humbert said the sofa was once the property of Lady Thelma Furness, who first met the Prince of Wales in the 1920s.   They went on safari together in East Africa in 1930 and developed a close relationship.  But it was she who introduced the prince to her close friend Wallis Simpson, who beat her to his affections.

It was rumored Lady Thelma was so enraged she had the sofa reduced to two seats in revenge!

The exhibition is the first to be displayed here and shows views including viaduct at John O'Gaunt and Rutland Water.

Marketing manager Nicky Montgomerie said: "The idea behind the exhibition came from our desire to assist local artists and photographers in connecting with the business community. Keith's work has proved very popular, and the exhibition marks the start of an exciting relationship between Burrough Court and the creative community".
