The Birds and the Bees

A new home for our feathered friends!

Keeping on the theme of furry friends… We have some more news regarding Burrough Court critters.

Alongside our stunning meeting venue and well appointed serviced office space, we are also a 1200 acre arable farm and keen conservationists to boot. Our most recent initiative seems to have been a success – we have new residents for our Owl boxes and we’re hoping to welcome some new additions to their numbers soon.

With both Barn owls and Short Eared Owls having been spotted recently, we’ve welcomed the RSPB to Burrough Court to carry out a bird audit across the farm. To date we are pleased to note that over 30 different species have been spotted!

Our next venture is to enter the world of beekeeping – we’ll keep you updated with our progress… Hopefully our new colony of bees will be producing Burrough Court honey very soon.

SUCCESS!

Having just the other day shared the news about our new feathered friends our hopes have been fulfilled! The owlet featured below was discovered in a hedgerow yesterday, initial concerns that he had been seperated from his parents were allayed by a quick call to our bird expert.

This little fledgling should be flying above Burrough Court in the near future!

Our four legged friends…

A recent BBC article presented some research about having access to or a home for our four legged friends at work, highlighting benefits such as reduced stress and increased co-worker cooperation.

Here at Burrough Court we have to whole heartedly agree, although we only have room for three or four pooches at a time – we see the benefits they bring first hand. Giving coworkers en excuse to get out of the office for a break in the fresh air!

Our four legged friends bring people together, reduce stress and foster an atmosphere of commmitment for all those who work here… We knew this before the BBC so kindly highlighted it for us. For all those who don’t take my word for it, here is a link to the article!… http://bbc.in/H39xQw

Out of town Offices

Working for Burrough Court, I am admittedly biased toward thinking that out of town is the best option for businesses choosing where to plant their roots… However, when googling the topic, I found that there are many who agree with me.

Apparently, there has been a trend of businesses moving away from urban locations over the past decade. Often attributed to advances in IT, the internet and broadband ensuring that image, accessibility and speed are now paramount concerns for business… All interesting stuff!

However, I enjoy coming up here to Burrough Court for other reasons and over the next few days am going to find out from those up on Burrough Hill what it is that makes working up here so special.

A lovely spot for lunch!

 UPDATE!!

Car Parking. Not an exciting topic by any means, but it is something that we can pride ourselves on! We are unique in our ability to accommodatre so many vehicles in well lit, secure spaces that are all close to our offices.

We are thrilled to have beaten last years total and raised over £220 for the charity which is such a great cause.

Office refurbishment for Simon Foster Sourcing

After a full refurbishment in April, we are pleased to welcome Simon Foster and his team to Burrough Court! The design-driven global fashion manufacturing group have located to our newly refurbished Office 11, set within the south wing of the courtyard.

The work involved removing dividing wall and fitting an oak floor to create a new open-plan style office which offers a light and contemporary space for the team to run their growing business from.

Forbidden royal romance

In the lead up to the royal wedding on April 29th, the ITV Daybreak team arrived to film one of a series of feature about historical royal romances. What better love stories than that of Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson, Burrough Court provided the perfect backdrop as it was a party held here where the couple first met and their relationship began.

The feature went on air today and can be viewed on the daybreak website by clicking here, or visit our history page to find out more.
