Royal romance found at Burrough Court

Built in 1906, Burrough Court was originally the site of a grand country house, used as a popular hunting lodge for the gentry and royal family.  In fact, during the 1930’s the Prince of Wales would regularly visit his friends, Lord and Lady Furness, to participate in his love of fox hunting.

However, another love was to be found at an evening reception at Burrough Court when he was first introduced to Wallis Simpson.  The Royal romance blossomed and, during their courting period, employees of the house would regularly see the couple walking `arm in arm’ together around the grounds.

Sadly, this historic house was destroyed in a fire in the 1940’s and only the courtyard and grooms quarters survived.  With great attention to detail, these buildings were lovingly restored by Fred and Dawn Wilson in 2001 and converted into the prestigious offices and meeting rooms.

Today, Fred and Dawn still protect the site and they extend a warm welcome to  visiting delegates who hold meetings here and conduct their business events within this superb setting – enjoying surroundings fit for a king!

Take time to read the fascinating history of Burrough Court on the `history page’ on our website.

To complement this history web page, a detailed documentary film has been produced and this DVD can be purchased at a discounted price of only £10 + post and packaging.  Ring for more details on 01664 454690.
